Preview - The Investec Series - 3rd Test.

The series might have had it's winner decided in the first two test matches. But the third test at Lord's cannot be called a 'dead rubber'. Such is the aura of this historical venue. Despite winning the series, England has a lot to take from this game. It will be a litmus test for some of their players who have not raised the bar in terms of individual performance. More than anything, pride is at stake for Sri Lanka. Having won the 2-match series 1-0 in 2014, the Sri Lankan side is trailing 2-0 at the moment with the last match pending.
The island nation has been bogged down by injuries in this series. To add to that, is Shaminda Eranga, who has been reported for a suspect action in the previous match. The chances is that he will be rested for this match. Left-arm medium-fast bowler, Chaminda Bandara is all but set to debut at Lord's in Eranga's absence.

Kusal Mendis will go all guns blaze at No. 3.
Dasun Shanaka, who displayed an impressive performance on debut at Leeds might be reinstated in place of Milinda Siriwardana in this match. The rest of the squad is likely to remain same. Kusal Perera's inclusion in place of Lahiru Thirimanne is would be seen as an enthralling change.
England has ticked almost all boxes in this series so far. Within the bounds of possibility, the squad is expected to be unchanged. The last test will be room to manoeuvre for players like Nick Compton, James Vince and Steven Finn. The trio has failed to cement their spot as of now. Both Compton and Vince will be looking to get some a lot of runs under their belt so as to be named in the upcoming series versus Pakistan.
Same Goes for Finn in the bowling division. The 27-year old right-arm fast-medium bowler's place might be in danger (if he does impress in this test) once Ben Stokes comes back.
Sri Lanka has experienced decent success in Lord's. They would want to replicate it in this match in order to gain back some confidence. On the other hand, England would want to win this match for the sake of whitewashing this series 3-0.
